DANAE CRUISING DOWN SOUTH - CASABLANCA, Marrakech
A – Marrakech (Full day with lunch & Fantasia dinner) – approx. 15 ½ hrs.
Marrakech, the imperial city which, at dawn of its history, gave Morocco its name.
The mightiest kings fought for it, a line of dynasties inherited it, sages, craftsmen, architects, painters and sculptors of all ages built magnificent palaces, mosques, gardens and Koranic schools. The Berbers and the Arabs came together here, to mingle with the nomads and the mountain people. Marrakech is the unchallenged capital of Southern Morocco. Drive to Marrakech with a 15-minute comfort stop (approx. 3 hours drive).
Arrival to Marrakech, visit of the Bahia Palace, constructed between 1894 and 1900. The palace is set within extensive gardens. The palace's decorative program consists of carved stucco, carved and painted woodwork, and glazed ceramic tile.
Stop at the Koutoubia Mosque, the largest mosque in Marrakech, and visit of the gardens. The minaret was used as model for Giralda of Sevilla and for the Hassan Tower of Rabat. It is considered the ultimate structure of its kind.
Enjoy a typical Moroccan lunch (incl. ¼ house wine / ¼ mineral water and tea) with Moroccan folklore and belly dancer.
After lunch, visit of the medina and souks with approx. 20-minute stop at Djamma El Fna Square for shopping. Drive to Chez Ali restaurant for a dinner in the Royal Tents where you will have the possibility to see folklore and horse show.
After enjoying your evening starts your way back to Casablanca (approx. 3 hours drive).

DANAE CRUISING DOWN SOUTH - CASABLANCA, Casablanca City Tour
B – Casablanca City Tour (Morning) – approx. 4 hrs.
Main city in Morocco and capital in all but administration, Casablanca is now the largest port of the Maghreb. Departure from the pier, stop at Mohamed V Square after passing by the United Nations Square. Inside visit of the Hassan II Mosque, built for the 60th birthday of former Moroccan King Hassan II, is the largest religious monument in the world after Mecca. It has space for 25,000 worshippers inside and another 80,000 outside. The 210-meter minaret is the tallest in the world and is visible day and night for miles around. Drive through the sea side and residential area of Anfa. Visit of the Habous quarter dotted by attractive little shaded squares, narrow streets lined with arcades lead from one souk to another; photo stop at the Royal Palace. It's worth ducking into the Central Market nearby, to catch a glimpse of the everyday life of the city. It's essentially a foodstuff market, but there are handicrafts as well.
Free time for shopping before returning to the ship.

During the visit of the Mosque the shoes must be taken off. Exposed shoulders or knees, short pants and tank tops are not acceptable.

DANAE CRUISING DOWN SOUTH - CASABLANCA, Rabat
C – Rabat (Afternoon) – approx. 5 hrs.
Capital of a modern nation, Rabat symbolises the infinite variety of Morocco. Set in a rich, amber coloured landscape, dotted with distinctive nettle trees, it elegantly combines an ancient history with modern culture.
Built on the banks of the Bou Regreg estuary, Rabat offers its visitors numerous flower-decked walks within earshot of the Ocean. The many fine buildings enclosed within its walls bear ample witness to its proud history as an imperial city. Drive to Rabat (approx. 75km – 1h15-drive). Our tour starts with a photo stop at the Royal Palace. In the heart of the city stands the Tower Hassan, the last vestige of an unfinished mosque. Behind its marble columns, the Mohammed V Mausoleum engenders solemn respect and serene contemplation (inside visit).
In the maze of streets making up the Oudaïas Kasbah, Islamic art rubs shoulders with the modern city. The result is a glittering mosaic, enchanting passers-by. Trip back to Casablanca.

Back to the ship with a photo stop at Hassan II Mosque which will be illuminated.

DANAE CRUISING DOWN SOUTH - TANGIER, Tangier City Tour
A – Tangier City Tour (Afternoon) – approx. 5 hrs.
At the cross-roads of Europe and Africa, of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, Tangier opens the door onto Morocco. There is still an air of mystery about the city, going back to the time when Tangier was an international zone.
Drive from the pier to Pasteur Avenue, California residential quarter, following the charming road through the romantic landscape of Rif Mountain.
Arrival at Cape Spartel: contemplation of the meeting point of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Photos stop.
Stop to visit the legendary Hercules Caves overlooking the sea. According to Greek mythology, Hercules, half God and half human passed away in the caves after separating Gibraltar from Africa. Next, experience an expression of traditional Moroccan folklore (approx. 45-minute), the Fantasia. Witness a spectacular display of horsemanship complete with musicians, dancers and traditional Moroccan refreshments. Our next stop will be at the Kasbah with its Moorish architecture, traditionally decorated doors and its winding and narrow alleys. Brief walk through the Medina and its colourful souks.

DANAE CRUISING DOWN SOUTH - TANGIER, Tetouan
B – Tetouan (Afternoon) – approx. 5 ½ hrs.
Architecture in Tetouan is a harmonious and fascinating blend of Arabic and Spanish styles, reflecting the town’s bicultural ancestry. Although Spanish is now rarely heard in Tetouan, the Spanish culture still plays a significant part in the life of the city. Andalusian music has remained dominant and trade with Ceuta, the Spanish enclave that is only about 25 miles away, keeps alive the historic links between the Arabic and Spanish culture.
Medina walking tour. The Medina lies inside a fortified wall with no fewer than seven decorated gates. Facing toward the Medina, Bab El Oqla, the old town’s eastern gate, looks onto the Museum of Moroccan Arts.
After passing by the Royal Palace and visiting the Jewish quarter “Mellah”, enjoy a refreshment drink at an old Moroccan Palace.

DANAE CRUISING DOWN SOUTH - TANGIER, Asilah
C – Asilah (Afternoon) – approx. 4 ½ hrs.
Around 40 km from Tangier on the route that leads to Rabat is Asilah, a small town with a rich historical past. Its ramparts and gate works remain fully intact. Its history dates back to 1500 b.C, when the Phoenicians used it as a base for trade. The old city (medina) seems to have come out of one of the tales of the thousand and one nights. You will start your visit inside the Portuguese Kasbah following by the old Medina and souks.
A stop will be made at the Zelis hotel to taste a typical Moroccan tea. Before starting your way back to the ship (approx. 1 hour drive), some free time will be given.
