ATHENA BLACK SEA - DUBROVNIK, Dubrovnik City Tour
1 - Dubrovnik City Tour (Afternoon) � approx. 4 hrs.
Drive to a location providing a panoramic view of Dubrovnik and its Riviera, before
continuing to Pile Square, where a walking tour begins by entering the town through the
Pile Gate and down the main street - the Stradun.
During the walk you will visit the Dominican monastery whose cloister ranks among the
most inspiring sites of the city. Its fine collection of paintings made by local and Italian masters is
the most representative of master pieces of Dubrovnik Renaissance Paining School. The final
visit will be to the 15th century Rectors Palace that used to be seat of the Government and the
Rector in once independent, Republic of Dubrovnik (abolished by Napoleon in 1808) and to the
Cathedral, built on the remains of the old Cathedral that was destroyed in 1667 by a disastrous
earthquake. Other fine monuments will be viewed from the outside: the Sponza Palace notable
for its columned courtyard with elaborate stone carvings, Church of Saint Blaise, Onofriou`s
Fountain�

2 - Best of Dubrovnik (Afternoon) � approx. 4 hrs.
Your tour begins with a drive westwards, stopping at the panoramic viewpoint above the
Old City for photographs. The journey then continues through the lovely countryside of
Zupa Dubrovacka (Parish of Dubrovnik), and picturesque villages to Cavtat, the
southernmost town in Croatia. Cavtat is situated in a bay, encircled by two peninsulas,
which makes it a safe harbour and popular destinations for ships and yachts. Few places offer

such a harmonious display of emerald sea, fascinating architecture and a rich cultural and
historical tradition. A stop will be made for you to explore independently, or to take a stroll along

picturesque villages of verdant Konavle region, one of famous Konavle Restaurants. Relax and
enjoy a glass of wine served with dried figs, smoked ham and homemade cheese and bread.
Drive back to the Old City of Dubrovnik where you will still have some time at leisure to stroll on
the narrow streets before driving back to the ship.

The tranquil island of Corfu, known to the Greeks as Kerkira, was where Empress
Elizabeth of Austria chose to take refuge, far from the obligations of the Hapsburg
court. The Empress, a lover of solitude, spent much time surrounded by the peace and
quiet of the island, admiring its beautiful landscapes. She immediately ordered a villa to
be built, Achilleion, which, after her death, was bought by Kaiser William II, also enchanted by
the beauty of Corfu.
Accompanied by your local guide you will enter the fascinating and fairytale world of Achilleion,
the home that the Empress dedicated to her favourite hero, Achilles. This sumptuously decorated
villa is surrounded by magnificent gardens sweeping down to the sea.
Leaving the villa, you will then continue towards one of the island's most beautiful locations,
Kanoni; an islet connected to the mainland, with a beautiful white monastery. There will be
enough time to take photographs to capture this picturesque panorama, before heading towards
Corfu Town. The heart of the town, built on the side of a hill, contains a labyrinth of small
alleyways criss-crossing larger, bustling streets abound with typical old craftsmen's workshops.

This excursion leaves the port for Paleokastritsa, one of the most beautiful resorts on
the island with fine beaches, wooded hills and crystal-clear sheltered bays pierced by
black rocks.
Here you�ll visit Paleokastritsa's venerable monastery, founded in 1226 and enjoy the
peaceful atmosphere created with shady archways and lovely gardens. From here, a stop will be
made at Kanoni, site of the old cannons and the magnificent view across the bay to the Nunnery
of Vlacherna and Mouse Island. Next you will board a bus back to Corfu Town for the walking
tour. You�ll visit the Church of St. Spiridon, the patron saint of the island, which contains a
priceless collection of icons. After passing narrow streets and Parisian archways you will arrive
at the Town Hall and the Cricket Square.
Before returning to the ship you will have time for shopping in Corfu Town.

Depart Piraeus and enjoy a panoramic tour of the city, passing the Temple of
Olympian Zeus, one of the largest temples in Corinthian style and Hadrian�s arch
which divided the Greek city from Hadrian�s new Roman city. Pass by the Monument
of the Unknown Soldier; catch a glimpse of the Evzoni Guards in their national
uniforms. View from the comfort of your coach the University, the National Academy, the Library
and the Presidential Megaron, impressive buildings constructed during the neoclassical period.
Take pleasure in a visit of the breathtaking Acropolis, the Ancient temple that boasts traces of
buildings from various periods dating back to the Mycenean era of the second millennium b.C.
The principal buildings are the Propylaia, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechteion and the

During your panoramic tour of this classical city you will marvel at the majestic works constructed
during the neoclassic period, including the House of Parliament in Constitution square, the
monument of the Unknown soldier, the National Academy, the Library, the University, the
Panathenaic Stadium built in 1896 for the first modern Olympic games (photo stop) and of
course the Acropolis (from downhill).

ATHENA BLACK SEA - PIRAEUS, Cape Sounion
7 - Cape Sounion (Morning) � approx. 4 � hours
Depart Piraeus and enjoy a scenic drive along the Apollo coast of the Saronic Gulf, past a series
of popular seaside resorts en route.
When approaching Sounion, you realize why this dramatic hill point has always been an
attraction to travellers throughout history.
Climb the pathway to the Acropolis of Ancient Sounion. Here, at the summit of the cape, stand
the ruins of a Temple of Poseidon, the god of the sea invoked by sailors rounding the cape. Visit
the Temple with its 16 original columns still standing some 196,85ft (60 metres) above sea level.
The Temple is of Doric order, complete with a peristyle and was built from marble between 444
and 440 b.C. on the orders of Pericles and was restored in the 19th century.
The unique view the promontory offers is of the Aegean Sea and the Greek islands. Return to
Piraeus over the same way (approx. 1h30 driving time).

ATHENA BLACK SEA - BATUMI, Traditional Batumi
8 � Traditional Batumi (Morning) � approx. 3 � hrs.
On this half day excursion in Batumi you have a chance to visit the main attractions of the
beautiful city on the Black Sea coast. First of all we drive along the coastline to the fortress Gonio
near Turkish border. The fortress was built in the first century by the Romans, but its history is
much older and is connected with the voyage of the legendary Argonauts to the fabulous
Kingdom of Colchis. Continue to the Open Air museum of Adjarian houses that give visitors a
glimpse of rural life in different parts of the region. Afterwards drive to visit farmer's market - the
typical oriental market with fresh fruits and vegetables as well as Georgian spices and sweets. In
the end of the tour walking in the city centre of Batumi from the beautiful Medea statue to the
wide-open Boulevard.
Drive back to Batumi to the port to have a lunch on the vessel.

9 - Land of Golden Fleece (Full day with lunch) � approx. 9 � hrs.
The excursion to the land of the Golden Fleece enables guests to travel on the
footprints of the legendary Argonauts and the same time get acquainted with Christian
architecture of Georgia � one of the first Christian countries. Both UNESCO World
Heritage Sites - Bagrati cathedral and Gelati monastic complex were built in 11th and
12th centuries when Georgia got united. This epoch is known as the Golden Age of Georgia. In
the afternoon you will have lunch (drinks incl.: mineral water / red wine / white wine and tea) at a
local restaurant. You will have a chance to enjoy delicious food and famous Georgian wine.
The meal will be followed by a folk show with Georgian traditional breathtaking dances.

ATHENA BLACK SEA - SOCHI, Sochi & Tea Plantation
10 - Sochi & Tea Plantation (Morning) � approx. 4 hrs.
This tour enables the visitor not only familiarize with a fully working tea plantation and sample the
delights of Russian tea, but also see this most warm land of the Great Russia.
During this tour you will enjoy the strolling in the city centre, the marvelous views of the
Caucasus Mountains, black tea out of samovars in the tea chalet in the most northern Tea
plantation of the world located at about 350m above the Sea level.
Leaving the seaport, which is in the city center in fact your bus will travel to the city centre to start
30-minute stroll along one of the central promenades featuring the major city highlights: the
oldest Russian Orthodox Church of St. Mickael, Second Russian-Turkish war monument, the
main Sochi Square with Winter Theatre (Stalin�s Empire architectural style, similar to Mussolini�s)
under exotic trees and bushes (magnolia oleander and others). Enjoy the marvelous seascape
and view upon the harbour.
Re-board the bus and continue pleasurable 30 minutes drive west passing by a city central park
Riviera, residential area, St. Vladimir Cathedral. Further on along the Black Sea coastline and
high up into the hills of Dagomys 13 miles far from Sochi is situated Dagomys, Russia's tea
capital and also a favoured holiday resort.
During the journey, you will enjoy stunning views of greater Sochi with its spa resorts, the sea
and the mountains from a viewpoint on the slopes of Mount Armyanka. You will be welcomed by
the local hosts and then stroll to the Tea Chalet.
They grow tea in Sochi and surroundings for about 100 years. There is one story about it, which
has it like this: between 19th and 20th century there appeared one man under the name of
Kosman in Sochi vicinity. He has lived the life full of events and labour, and worked a lot in
Georgia at tea plantations. He brought from Georgia several black bowls and planted in his
garden. After some while the tea has grown at Kosman�s little tea plantation. The Tzar came to
know about it and wanted some for tasting. The Tsar liked this tea very much and supported
Kosman and his tea plantations. Much later the Soviet government continued with the tea
plantations in Sochi having modernized it. But this modernization aggravated the quality of the
tea. In the middle of the 80th Sochi used to produce about 8000 t of tea. Presently tea is made
for the home needs only. The house of Kosman and his little tea plantation still exist as a tea
museum.
This will be the time to sample tea (grown at the plantations), homemade pies and other culinary
delights. The highlight of the trip is a presentation of Russian Folkloric concert performed by a
local dance company. After some short free time return to the ship.

ATHENA BLACK SEA - SOCHI, Sochi & Stalin�s Dacha
11 - Sochi & Stalin�s Dacha (Morning) � approx. 3 � hrs.
This tour will familiarize you with the city of Sochi all green and being the central part of Russian
subtropical zone. It takes some 145km along the sea coast. The city is comparatively young
about 150 years old only and the 19th century mansions � spa resorts, theatres and museums
will look old in comparison with the young city. You would be able to wash your hands in the
medicinal sulphur waters of Matsesta spa resort, to receive first hand information about one of
the most notorious world dictators, indulge yourself in the atmosphere of the world which was
different.
You will proceed to your coach and head to one of the central promenades passing by the oldest
Russian Orthodox Church of St. Mickael, to start a brief walking tour in Sochi featuring the major
city highlights: Second Russian-Turkish war monument, the main Sochi Square with the Winter
Theatre (Stalin�s Empire architectural style similar to Mussolini�s one) under exotic trees and
bushes (magnolia oleander and others). Enjoy the marvelous seascape and view upon the
harbor. Then head towards the mineral springs at Matsesta. On the way there are many other
spa resorts, being surrounded by their own parks and gardens, but the sulphur springs Matsesta
is the heart of Sochi resorts curing all suffering from arteritis and other bone (and not only)
diseases since the times immemorial. Touch the medicinal water by your own hands.
After Matsesta please continue the drive toward Zelenaya Roscha (Green Grove), site of the
former summer residence (dacha) of Joseph Stalin: Stalin�s Dacha. On arrival, there is a 5-
minute walk from the parking area to dacha, which is situated inside an old park. During your
visit you will note that the atmosphere and interior has been preserved as in Stalin�s days.
The world famous Dictators used to build their palaces and dachas in the grandiose style
showing their power and mighty. This Stalin�s Dacha is not grandiose, does not have the golden
taps in the bathrooms, because Stalin positioned himself as a Marxist Hero, the only luxury in the
Dacha were billiard and home cinema hall. There was one more Stalin�s Dacha in Sochi�s vicinity
� In Krasnaya Polyana, which looked like a fortress. It was continuously upgraded and bettered
by his architect Miron Mirtshanov. Not many people know that some half term out of 30 years of
Stalin�s reign he has run the empire not from Kremlin but from his Dachas. Stalin was suffering
from arteritis after his Siberian exiles and Matsesta springs were his rescue. Stalin was fond of
his gardens and frequently made his surrounding to work them from the sore weeds. He was
fond of roses and mimosa.
Departing Zelenaya Roscha, you will head back towards Sochi. Here again you will have an
opportunity to get more information about the city and your guide will point out major sights, and
share the city with you. Return road will pass by the beautiful Russian arboretum.

ATHENA BLACK SEA - SOCHI, Akhun Mountain
12 � Akhun Mountain (Full day with lunch) � approx. 6 � hrs.
The green edge of Akhun Mountain (one of the main sights of the Black Sea coast) is situated by
the sea. Akhun is a short 5-kilometre mountain range, which stretches from north-west to southeast,
parallel to the sea coast. Height - 663 meters. 20 kilometres from the centre of the city.
Akhun resembles a volcano, if you look at it from the side of Sochi. Akhun massif is famous for
its manifold flora. Here plants grow according to the orientation of the mountainsides to the parts
of the world and not to the sea level as usual. It's the main regional feature. An 11-kilometre
highway winds along the steep slope of Bolshoi Akhun to its top and a sight tower, from where
you can see Turkish mountains. The Yew - Box - Tree - Grove, a Caucasian Reserve of Rare
Trees.
In Sochi there is a place where You can discover a piece of the primeval pre-ice age Caucasian
flora .There one can breathe the air of the Tertiary period of the Caenozoic Era (that's when the
human race did not exist yet). This is the yew and box-tree grove. Since 1930 the grove has
been a preserve, so stepping out of the path and picking and gathering anything around is
prohibited. This excursion will take you to an area of unique and rare vegetation in the Caucasus

state reserves in Russia, admire the beauty of the grove and visit the museum of Caucasian
fauna and an ever - green bow - tree forest which is a relict of the pre - glacial period. This
national reserve is one of the main attractions of Sochi.
Departing from the pier, you will visit the Dendrarium (Arboretum) to admire one of the most
charming botanical gardens in Russia which extends over 30 acres. Enjoy a leisurely walk
among an unusual variety of trees and shrubs, perhaps pausing to enjoy the view of the
fountains, basins, statues and pea-cocks around the place.
Your tour will then take you to the Sochi's spa Matsesta, a recent seaside development. It's
name, "Fiery Water," of Cherkess origin, is a reference to the hot sulphur springs that have been
known here from ancient times.
A stroll here will let you experience a great variety of opportunities offered to pleasure seekers
and holiday-makers from all over the former Soviet Union.
Boarding your motor coach, you will be take up the slopes of the Bolshoi Akhun Mountain (1,900
feet). Traveling along one of the most scenic routes in the Caucasus, you will top at its 90-foothigh
lookout tower and enjoy a panorama of almost the whole of Caucasian Riviera, from Tuapse
down to cape Pitsunda.
Behind you, the snow-covered peaks of the Caucasus seem quite close, although they are
actually 25 miles away.
Further on enjoy Your Local cuisine lunch at the restaurant, accompanied by the National Folk

ATHENA BLACK SEA - YALTA, The Southern Coast of Crimea
13 - The Southern Coast of Crimea (Morning) � approx. 4 � hrs.
Departing the pier, you will enjoy a pleasant drive through the central area of Yalta. Nearby are
favourite resort areas of the former aristocracy. As you travel through glorious countryside that
stretches for 80 km you will see many mansions and palaces built by the nobility, now used as
health resorts.
Explore the Livadia Palace in its landscaped garden setting, formerly the summer residence of
Czar Nicholas II. This White Palace was constructed in early Renaissance style by Russian
architect Nikolai Krasnov in 1911. For his work Krasnov was given the title of Academician in
Architecture. You will see the restored White Hall where the historic meeting between Roosevelt,
Stalin and Churchill was held in February of 1945, the Czar�s Study and Roosevelt�s
headquarters.
After your unforgettable visit to this famous palace of Crimea you will pause at a vantage point
overlooking the Cape Ai-Todor to admire a magnificent view of the Swallow�s Nest, a white
palace with towers and spires, resembling a fairy tale castle which clings to an inaccessible cliff
like a real swallow�s nest at the hight of 40 meters above the sea.. This �Castle of Love�,
designed by the Architect Sherwood and completed in 1911 has become a true symbol of
Crimea.
Next you will visit Alupka Town, where under the magnificent slopes of Mount Ai-Petri (3,700
feet) is situated the Vorontsov Palace. Formidable Count Vorontsov commissioned Edward
Blore, one of the architects of Buckingham Palace, to construct this two-faced masterpiece,
which was completed between 1828 and 1848. You will pause to see the north facade which
offers a forbidding Tudor-medieval look before entering the ornate apartments. Your guide will
walk you through its lavishly decorated interiors and provide informative commentaries about the
history of this resplendent building. After this overview, you will return to the ship.

This tour involves an extensive amount of walking for approximately 1,500 yards on surfaces that are
mostly flat, but slightly uneven in Alupka Park. There are 90 steps going up and 175 steps going down.
This tour is recommended for guests in good physical condition, and is not suitable for guests with limited

Board your motorcoach for a scenic drive to see the Swallow�s Nest fair- tale castle. The route
takes you through the town of Yalta, you will be impressed by its beautiful seafront and lovely
scenery of green and rocky cliffs, mountain vistas, lush vegetation and grandiose mansions.
Your first stop will be made at a vantage point offering a wonderful panoramic view of the Cape
Ai-Todor. In the middle of the coastal area stands an unusual castle called Lastochkino Gnezdo
(The Swallow�s Nest). Like a swallow�s nest it clings to the 40-meter-high cliff. Its turrets, spires
and crenellations give one an impression of unapproachable grandeur. This �Castle of Love�,
designed by the architect Sherwood and completed in 1911 has become a true symbol of
Crimea. If time permits, you may browse through the gift stalls.
After reboarding your coaches you will continue with leisurely drive to Alupka town. In Alupka,
one of Crimea�s most beautiful resorts, is the Vorontsov�s Palace, where Churchill stayed during
the Yalta Conference. In 1823 Count Mikhail Vorontsov was appointed Governor-General of the
Novorossiisk Territory. The new Governor commissioned the famous English court architect
Edward Blore to construct this two-faced masterpiece, which was completed between 1828 and
1848. This is now an impressive museum of 19th century art and architecture. Here you will see
the extensive 40 ha landscaped grounds and the palace�s superb interior with its priceless
display.

Transfiguration Cathedral built in 1808. Our guide will bring the dramatic history of this beautiful

From the port we cross over Galata Bridge and climb to Old Stamboul for our visit of
the Basilica of Hagia Sophia. Commissioned in 532 A.D. by the Emperor Justinian it
was Constantinople�s cathedral for 900 years.
Unquestionably one of the city�s finest buildings its immense dome rises 55 m above
the ground and its diameter spans 31 m. Hagia Sophia served as a mosque from the 1453
Turkish conquest until 1934 when upon the instructions of Ataturk it was established as a
museum that today houses many fine Byzantine mosaics. It is unquestionably one of the finest
buildings of all time with its immense dome rising 55 metres above the ground and diameter
spanning 31 metres. Built by Constantine the Great and reconstructed by Justinian in the 6th
century we can admire the building�s majestic serenity and its fine Byzantine mosaics.
From here it is a short walk to the elegant Imperial Sultan Ahmet Mosque, which was built
between 1609 and 1616 by the architect Mehmet.
With six minarets and magnificent blue Iznik tiles decorating the interior, it is perhaps better
known as the �Blue Mosque�.
The Sultanahmet area was once the ancient Hippodrome - the scene of chariot races and centre
of Byzantine civic life. Of the monuments that once decorated it only three remain and you will
see the Obelisk of Theodosius, the bronze Serpentine Column and the Column of Constantine.

From the port we drive across Galata Bridge to Old Stamboul for our visit to what is
considered one of the greatest churches in the world.
First you will visit the New Mosque (Yeni Cami) is a 17th century mosque situated in
Emin�n� district near the Egyptian Spice Bazaar next to the Golden Horn. This
mosque is officially called the Mosque of the Valide Sultan (Queen Mother) because it was
commissioned by Safiye, mother of Sultan Mehmet III in 1597. After her son died, Safiye was no
longer Queen Mother with a queen�s powers and revenues, so her mosque sat unfinished. Six
sultans later, Turhan Hatice, Queen Mother of Sultan Mehmet IV, took up the work and finished
it, which is another reason it�s called the Valide Sultan�s Mosque. The interior of the mosque has
great examples of Ottoman tile work. You will continue to the Yerebatan Underground Cistern
from the 6th century and from the Byzantine time. Inside this masterpiece of engineering we can
see three hundred and thirty six massive Doric and Corinthian columns that support the fine brick
vaulting of the immense chamber. Drive back to the pier.

Departure from the port and drive to the old part of Istanbul. First you will visit the
Topkapi Palace. Lying at the confluence of the Bosphorus, Golden Horn and Sea of
Marmara on a small peninsula stands the magnificent Topkapi Palace. It was the
focal point of the Ottoman Empire between the 15th and 19th centuries where amidst
opulent surroundings the sultans and their court lived and governed.
During the visit you will see the imperial collections of crystal, silver and Chinese porcelain
displayed in the former kitchens of the palace. You pass the Harem that was the secluded
quarters of the wives, concubines and children of the sultan before entering the third courtyard to

see an exhibition of imperial costumes worn by the sultans and their families, the famous jewels
of the treasury and a collection of portraits of the Sultans. You will visit the Pavilion of the Holy

brought to Istanbul when the Ottomans assumed the caliphate of Islam.

Your tour will begin with a panoramic tour of the Old Town of Istanbul. Drive over the

visits. Some of the sights seen are the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Sultanahmet
Square, Hippodrome, Beyazit Mosque, Istanbul University, Theodosian Forum,

Passengers will depart the pier by coach with the local guides and they will proceed along the
new road towards Nicolosi. This road was built only after the eruption that took place in 1983,
passengers will proceed across the vineyards and the valleys that were completed covered by
the lava. Then through the highway they will reach Mount Etna.
Mt Etna is the European largest active volcano and its flanks are covered with scores of cones
and craters. Along the scenic road that winds around the slopes of the mountain, passengers will
arrive at Mt Etna-Cratere Silvestri, at about 1950 metres on the sea level.
From this point on there are endless small volcanic cones, awe-inspiring rows of hardened lava,

Taormina that is about 50 km far.
The small town, become one of the most popular Mediterranean sun spots, is perched on a
terrace overlooking the sea and has a delightful medieval character.
Upon arrival passengers will leave the coach at the bus terminal and start the walking tour,
during which they will admire (outside) the famous Gothic Corvaja Palace dating back to the XV
century. Afterwards they will visit (inside) the impressive Greek Theatre, that is amazing for its
spaciousness, its extraordinary acoustics and its stunning location. This theatre was
reconstructed in Roman style in the II century A.D. with a diameter of 358 feet. It is the second
largest theatre in Sicily after Syracuse. From the upper tiers spectacular views reveal majestic
Mt. Etna, Europe's largest and still active volcano.

Catania, Sicily�s second largest city is situated at the foot of Mt. Etna, Europe�s largest active
volcano. The tour will take passengers to the discovery of this splendid Baroque city, re-built after
the earthquake of 1693.
Catania founded in 730 b.C. by Ancient Greek, became under Roman domination the most
important village of the Island. With its 7 Spa centre, Catania hosts a Roman amphitheatre,
discovered at the beginning of this century.
Dominated also by Byzantine, Catania shows Byzantine traces visible nowadays, as the
Elephant in Piazza Duomo. Destroyed under Arabs domination, Catania became a powerful town
under the Normans who built a magnificent church that has become nowadays the Cathedral.
Federico II razed the town and afterwards he gave to Catania a beautiful castle named Urpino
Castle and one of the best Universities in Italy.
Catania became under Spanish domination a commercial and industrial town, known all over
Italy for sulphur refinery. The baroque period defined the town. In 35 years Catania rose again
from its ashes, showing all its new beauty: �a Theatre at open air�, the usual definition to
describe the beautiful Piazza Duomo.

Departure from the pier by coach with the local guides and begin of the excursion with a brief
drive through the busy port of Catania, passing the �Fontana di Proserpina� (Proserpine�s
Fountain), the village of sulphur, Corso Italia, Piazza Verga, via Etnea.
The walk tour begins with a visit to Piazza Universit�, home of Catania University (founded in
1434). Of special interest here are the 18th century Palazzo Centrale and Palazzo San Giuliano,
both designed by Giovanni Battista Vaccarini, a Catania native and one of the founders of
Sicilian Baroque.
From here we proceed to Piazza del Duomo, known as the heart of Catania. We�ll discover the
city�s Cathedral, whose fa�ade is another early baroque masterpiece by Vaccarini. Originally built
in the 12th century, the Cathedral (like many of the city�s most important monuments) was
destroyed by a devastating earthquake in 1693, then rebuilt by Vaccarini sixty years later.
Adorning the centre of the square is the �Elephant Fountain�, for which Vaccarini reutilized a
Roman-era elephant sculpted from volcanic rock and an Egyptian obelisk, with most remarkable
effect. On the opposite side of the square we�ll see Catania�s city hall, housed in an elegant 17th
century Palazzo, and the stunning white marble Amenano fountain. Beyond the fountain, we can
glimpse the city�s traditional open air fish market.
The tour then continues down Via dei Crociferi, which has been described as one of the most
beautiful streets of Italy, with its many palazzi, monasteries and churches all dressed in splendid
Sicilian Baroque fa�ades, and concludes with a visit to Piazza Stesicoro where we�ll see the ruins
of Catania�s Roman-era amphitheatre.
Afterwards passengers will join the coach and drive back to the pier.
